A meeting of Wetton and Back of Ecton Parish Council took place on Monday, 10th June 2024 at 7.30 pm in Wetton Village Hall.
Present: Mrs D Noble (Chair person), Mrs J Melville, Mr D Sharp, Mrs L Powis, Mr T Heaney and the clerk, Mrs S Hampson. There were no members of the public in attendance.

24.6.1 Apologies and declaration of interest of councillors related to the agenda
Mrs Drummond was not in attendance. There was no need, by any other member present, to declare an interest in the items on the published agenda. Members signed the attendance register.
24.6.2 Minutes of the previous meeting.
These were accepted as a true record of proceedings and signed, in the meeting, by the Chair Person,
Mrs D Noble.
24.6.3 Casual Vacancy
Interest in the vacancy had been expressed from a resident. He had completed the Register of Interest document in advance of the meeting and sent this to the clerk but unfortunately could not attend. He had confirmed his attendance for the meeting scheduled for 10th July.
Resolved: to proceed to co-option in July.
24.6.4 Internal audit of accounts for the year ended 31st March 2024
The internal audit of the accounts had taken place with no matters to bring before the council. The invoice had been received. There will be a slight increase in fees for next year.
24.6.5 Approval of section 1 of Annual Governance Statement
Resolved: For the clerk/Responsible Finance Officer, Mrs Hampson and Chair Person, Mrs Noble to sign this document.
24.6.6 Approval of section 2 Accounting Statement
Resolved: For the clerk/Responsible Finance Officer, Mrs Hampson and Chair Person, Mrs Noble to sign this document.
24.6.7 Approval of Certificate of Exemption and other sections of annual return
Resolved: For the clerk/Responsible Finance Officer, Mrs Hampson and Chair Person, Mrs Noble to sign the certificate of exemption.

Members discussed items surrounding the parish council’s insurance and that of Wetton Village Hall.
Resolved: Mrs Melville to obtain a quote for additional insurance cover through the parish council’s present provider. The clerk to contact Staffordshire Parish Councils’ Association for further advice.
Mrs Noble reported a broken lock at the pavilion which has now been resolved but payment for a skip may be necessary in the near future to clear redundant items.
She also advised that the church committee will obtain quotes for the installation costs of new lighting on the path near the church and also to officially contact the parish council to request a donation towards the new lighting costs. The parish council will consider Section 137 for this matter.
24.6.9 Items for the next agenda
Review of policies, insurance, lighting for path near church, playing field and pavilion, Wetton Village Hall. Additional items to be compiled by the clerk, as required.
24.6.10 Date of the next meeting
Wednesday, 10th July 2024.
